Customer paid for a remap from a well known tuner nearby…
Drove away and couldn’t feel any difference.
Brought it to us for a power run.
Result
Stock power.
We then read the ECU.
Completely standard. No calibration changes at all.
Let that sink in. Paid for a remap… and nothing had even been done.
The customer was shocked, but at the same time not surprised. Deep down most people know when something doesn’t feel right.
This is the reality of a lot of the tuning industry.
Sometimes nothing is done at all.
Other times the bare minimum is done just to make the car feel different. Typically the pedal or driver request maps are tweaked so the throttle feels sharper. The car feels quicker… but it isn’t.
No real power increase
No proper calibration work
No testing
Just smoke and mirrors.
Because there is no proper dyno testing, no validation, and no development on the actual vehicle, the customer is left believing they have gained 30 or 40HP when in reality the car is no different… or worse.
We have had countless cars in where owners genuinely believed they had a “fast” setup, only to find out the car is completely stock or nowhere near the claimed figures.
We have also seen builds where thousands have been spent on parts, big power figures promised, and when the car is finally tested properly it falls massively short. Excuses usually follow.
The problem is simple. If it is not tested, it is just a claim.
If you want a number, we will measure it.
If you want performance, we will prove it.
