Mercedes-Benz coding can personalise supported comfort, lighting and display settings, or configure compatible equipment after a retrofit or module replacement. At Llandow Tuning, we identify your vehicle and its control units, then agree the changes and any programming or adaptation work required.
Comfort and convenience settings
The available settings depend on the model, build date, equipment package and the hardware and software versions of the relevant modules. Examples of requests we assess include:
- Comfort indicator flash count on supported cars with the comfort turn-signal function.
- Lock and unlock confirmation flashes, and acoustic confirmation where the required system is fitted.
- Automatic door-lock and folding-mirror menu settings on compatible modules, with electrically folding mirrors already installed.
- Start/stop setting memory where the vehicle supports retaining the driver's previous selection.
- Parking-sensor sound and frequency settings on supported parking systems.
- Climate-control behaviour or display settings, such as showing blower level in AUTO mode, where offered by the fitted climate system.
For example, published tool support lists include folding-mirror menu and parking-sensor settings for selected W204 and W205 C-Class configurations. They are useful starting points for an enquiry; the fitted modules still need checking.
Lighting, dashboard and display preferences
- Coming and leaving-home lighting behaviour and timing on compatible lighting modules.
- Rear lights alongside daytime running lights, where supported by the vehicle's lighting configuration.
- Footwell lighting while driving and door-handle lighting timing where those lamps and their control hardware are fitted.
- Dashboard startup animations, supported gauge tests, display units and additional vehicle-information menus.
- Infotainment startup logos or display themes offered by the installed head unit and its software.
Selected W205 C-Class and W213 E-Class modules have documented display and lighting options, but different instrument clusters, head units and equipment packages provide different choices. Tell us the result you want so we can assess your exact configuration.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto assessment
Smartphone integration needs the head unit, software, USB or connection hardware and any activation or licensing requirements checked together. On suitable systems, configuration may form part of activation or a compatible retrofit. Other vehicles need additional hardware or a different head unit.
Published ABRITES support includes CarPlay and Android Auto activation for the HU5S1 head unit. This does not establish support for every COMAND or MBUX system, or provide a way to unlock every paid or connected feature. Include the head-unit details and current smartphone-integration options in your enquiry.
Retrofit and replacement-module coding
We assess coding for compatible installed equipment and replacement control units. The work may involve setting the vehicle configuration, commissioning the unit, checking communication with other modules and completing the relevant setup procedures.
Before buying a used or new module, send the original and replacement part numbers, donor and recipient details and the proposed installation. Hardware compatibility, software, vehicle configuration and any pairing or access requirements determine whether the unit can be used. Preparing a used module is a separate assessment and is not possible for every unit.
For gearbox controllers and related learning procedures, see transmission diagnostics. Suspected failed units may need ECU testing first; start-authorisation and key-recognition concerns are covered by immobiliser diagnostics.
Coding, adaptations and software programming
Coding changes supported configuration settings within a control unit. Adaptation and calibration set up a component or its learned values after appropriate installation or repair. Examples can include relevant transmission learning, sunroof setup or camera calibration, each with its own vehicle-specific procedure and equipment requirements.
Programming or flashing writes control-unit software. It may be required during a supported replacement or to address an identified software concern. We establish the correct software and procedure, confirm the required access and prepare a stable power supply before work.
Online SCN coding and control-unit commissioning are assessed separately from convenience settings. Their availability depends on the exact module, permitted procedure and the required online authorisation. Existing faults and previous tuning or programming attempts need to be declared before a software change is planned.
Mercedes tools and the right procedure
Our workshop tool range includes XENTRY and DAS, Vediamo, DTS Monaco and Mercedes-specific AVDI equipment. We choose the applicable platform and procedure for the vehicle generation, module and agreed work.
Manufacturer diagnostic and commissioning procedures, specialist configuration tools and aftermarket adaptations cover different tasks. Owning a tool does not establish support for every module or remove the need for compatible equipment, correct software and the relevant access.
Prepare your Mercedes coding enquiry
Send your registration or VIN, build year, current equipment and a description of the change you want. Photographs of the existing dashboard or infotainment menus and module labels can help identify the configuration. Include warning messages, scan reports, retrofit details and previous software work where relevant.
We confirm feasibility, the work involved and the quote before booking. For the general differences between vehicle configuration and software work, visit our coding and programming overview.

Coding options depend on your exact vehicle
Seeing a coding option on a similar vehicle—even the same make, model and year—does not mean your vehicle supports it. Coding reconfigures the electronic modules already fitted; it cannot add missing hardware or give a module capabilities it does not have.
Availability depends on the exact specification, fitted equipment, wiring, module versions and software. Some manufacturers use different modules for different feature packages. Mirror folding, for example, requires suitable powered mirrors and compatible controls.
We must check your vehicle before confirming any option. Additional hardware, replacement modules or software programming are separate work.
