We reproduce the problem under controlled load and combine the dyno result with targeted diagnostic data. The aim is to narrow down the cause of a performance or running issue before parts are replaced or tuning is considered.

What the graph can tell you
A rolling road power run plots the measured power and torque across the rev range. That makes it useful for checking a healthy vehicle, recording a baseline or comparing the outcome of later work.
If there is a warning light, hesitation, boost problem, unusual smoke, misfire or unexplained power loss, choose a dyno diagnostic session. That booking creates time to investigate the behaviour rather than simply recording it.

Magicmotorsport DynoRoad
Unusual vehicle dimensions or an incompatible four-wheel-drive system can prevent testing on a conventional rolling road. For suitable vehicles, our Magicmotorsport DynoRoad tool mounts to a wheel and measures power from the vehicle.
Accurate vehicle weight and careful setup are essential to a reliable reading. Getting the system configured correctly takes time, but our workshop has found the readings very accurate when it is set up properly.
Our dyno facilities
Our rolling road is based in the Vale of Glamorgan and is used by drivers from Cardiff, Bridgend, Barry, Cowbridge, Swansea, Newport and across South Wales.
Before your appointment
A dyno places the engine and drivetrain under load. The vehicle must be safe to test, and we need to know about faults or unusual requirements before it enters the dyno cell.

A power run measures current power and torque. A dyno diagnostic session uses controlled-load testing and targeted data gathering to investigate a running or performance issue. Diagnostics cost £150 for 2WD and £200 for 4WD.
We have a MAHA LPS 2000 4WD chassis dyno on site. Some four-wheel-drive systems need a different testing arrangement, so send us the vehicle details before booking. For suitable vehicles that cannot use the rolling road, we can assess Magicmotorsport DynoRoad testing.
For suitable vehicles with unusual dimensions or a four-wheel-drive system that prevents rolling road testing, Magicmotorsport DynoRoad mounts to a wheel and measures power from the vehicle. Suitability, testing arrangements and the price are agreed before booking.
DynoRoad uses the vehicle weight when calculating power, so an accurate weight and careful setup are essential to a reliable result. Our workshop has found the readings very accurate when the system is correctly configured.
