Ford Coding and Programming in South Wales

Configure your Ford for the equipment it has and the way you use it. At Llandow Tuning, we assess supported comfort changes, retrofits, replacement control units and software work, then agree the coding, programming and adaptations needed for the individual vehicle.

Ford comfort and convenience settings

Some Ford functions are configured differently between models, trim levels and markets. Examples we can check for your vehicle include:

  • Automatic door locking as the vehicle moves away, where the body controller supports it.
  • Global window opening or closing using the remote, with compatible window controls and equipment.
  • Supported daytime running light configuration for the installed lamps and vehicle specification.
  • Configuration of factory-style cruise control after the correct switches, wiring and compatible modules are fitted.

Some settings may already be available through the vehicle's own menus. Tell us the behaviour you want so that we can establish whether it needs coding, additional hardware or a different approach. An option listed for another Ford does not establish support on yours.

Retrofits and replacement modules

A retrofit needs the correct parts and wiring as well as configuration. We can assess how supported equipment integrates with the body controller, instrument cluster, infotainment and other relevant systems. Cruise control and other equipment changes need the appropriate checks after installation.

For a replacement controller, we check its identity, hardware and software against the vehicle. Depending on the unit, the work may include transferring supported configuration, restoring factory As-Built data, programming the required software and completing initialization or adaptations.

As-Built is Ford's factory configuration record. It can help restore the correct vehicle settings, but loading configuration alone does not complete every replacement-module installation. Send the original and replacement part numbers before purchasing a new or used unit.

A suspected failed controller may need ECU testing. For gearbox control units, learned values or conversion work, see transmission diagnostics. Key recognition and start-authorisation concerns are covered by immobiliser diagnostics.

Coding, software programming and adaptation

Coding changes supported configuration. Software programming writes software to a controller, while an adaptation or relearn sets up a component or synchronises vehicle information after relevant work. We identify which of these the job requires rather than treating them as interchangeable services.

FORScan is a Ford-specific diagnostic and configuration tool. Manufacturer software programming follows the applicable Ford procedure, using tools such as IDS on supported platforms. The correct tool, software access and procedure depend on the vehicle and controller; a configurable feature does not imply that every firmware update is available.

Compatibility across Ford models and generations

Enquiries are welcome for Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, Kuga, Ranger, Transit and other Ford models. Configuration differs between generations and can vary with the hardware and firmware fitted to two vehicles of the same year. Imported vehicles may also have different equipment and settings.

FORScan currently describes support for 2025 and newer model years as best effort, and notes that recent models may have a limited set of supported functions. We confirm access and the requested work for the exact vehicle before booking.

Plan the work before buying parts

Send your registration, model and year, current equipment and the result you want. Include part numbers for any retrofit or replacement controller, previous fault reports and details of existing tuning or programming attempts. We assess compatibility and agree the scope, including any supporting installation and checks afterwards.

Our vehicle coding and programming page explains the wider service and the difference between configuration, flashing and adaptation.

Coding options depend on your exact vehicle

Seeing a coding option on a similar vehicle—even the same make, model and year—does not mean your vehicle supports it. Coding reconfigures the electronic modules already fitted; it cannot add missing hardware or give a module capabilities it does not have.

Availability depends on the exact specification, fitted equipment, wiring, module versions and software. Some manufacturers use different modules for different feature packages. Mirror folding, for example, requires suitable powered mirrors and compatible controls.

We must check your vehicle before confirming any option. Additional hardware, replacement modules or software programming are separate work.
