ASNU injector testing and servicing
Llandow Tuning uses an ASNU injector testing and servicing machine at our South Wales workshop to assess supported injectors, compare flow and spray patterns, and carry out ultrasonic cleaning where appropriate.
Our equipment includes in-house control gear for additional applications. We work with several injector designs, including top-feed, side-feed, mechanical and supported GDI units. Send the part number before arranging the work so we can confirm compatibility.
Bench testing helps assess the injector itself. If you are investigating a running fault and do not yet know the cause, start with a vehicle fault assessment before removing parts.
When is injector testing useful?
Testing can be useful when an injector fault is suspected, when assessing a used set, or when checking injectors as part of a performance build.
For a tuned engine, tell us about the fuel, operating pressure and power target so that the testing enquiry is considered alongside the intended application.
A cleaning service cannot repair every electrical or mechanical defect. Comparing results before and after cleaning helps establish what has changed and whether further action is needed.
There is no single testing interval for every vehicle. Discuss the engine's use and service history when planning maintenance or a dyno tuning session.
The injector testing and cleaning process
The stages below describe our bench-service workflow. The tests and service parts available depend on the injector type.
Step 1
External Cleaning
The injector is inspected for visible damage and cleaned externally before testing to keep debris out of the test equipment.Step 2
Electrical Checks
Applicable electrical checks, including resistance and inductance where appropriate, help assess the injector before flow testing. The checks depend on the injector design.Step 3
Leak Test
The injector is checked for leakage while closed under the relevant test conditions.Step 4
Spray Pattern
The spray pattern is observed under supported test conditions, including different pulse durations where appropriate. We look for inconsistencies in the pattern and compare the injectors.Step 5
Dynamic Flow
Dynamic flow results are recorded so that differences between the injectors can be compared.Step 6
Serviceable Filters and Seals
Removable filters and O-rings are taken out where the injector design allows servicing.Step 7
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Suitable injectors are cleaned using the ultrasonic equipment and a procedure appropriate to their design.Step 8
New Filters and O-Rings
Serviceable filters and O-rings are replaced with suitable parts where required and available for the injector.Step 9
Retesting After Cleaning
Relevant tests are repeated after cleaning and the results are recorded for comparison.Step 10
Static Flow Testing
Where applicable, static flow is measured with the injector held open under the test conditions.Step 11
Flow Measurement
The before-and-after figures show whether cleaning changed the measured flow and how closely the set compares.Step 12
Results and Next Steps
Injectors are identified by number so the accompanying results can be matched to each unit.If cleaning has not resolved the concern, we discuss the findings and possible replacement or matching options.
