An airbag or SRS warning needs the restraint system assessed, including the fault information, fitted equipment and repair history. Llandow Tuning welcomes enquiries about warning lights, replacement SRS units, seat changes and crash data following a collision.
SRS and airbag warning lights
SRS means Supplementary Restraint System. Depending on the vehicle, the system includes airbags, seat-belt pretensioners, occupancy information, sensors and the restraint controller.
We review the warning, available codes and relevant vehicle information before agreeing the next tests. Wiring, connectors, supplies, communication or fitted components can be relevant. A warning does not establish that the SRS ECU needs replacing, and clearing a code does not repair its cause.
Coding and programming SRS units
A replacement restraint controller may require vehicle-specific coding, configuration or other setup. Support depends on the exact unit, software, fitted restraint equipment and manufacturer requirements.
Contact us before buying a replacement. Include the original and proposed unit labels, vehicle details and the reason for replacement. We can discuss suitability and the checks needed after installation. See vehicle coding and programming for related work.
Aftermarket seats and airbag lights
Changing seats can affect seat-mounted airbags, belt equipment, occupancy information or connections. Tell us which seats were fitted, what equipment was retained and when the warning appeared.
For road vehicles, we assess compatibility, faults and supported configuration with the required restraint system in mind. Switching off a warning alone does not establish that the system is working correctly. For a purpose-built competition car, discuss the complete restraint setup and intended use separately; a competition configuration is not an approval for road use.
Crash-data reset enquiries after a collision
Some restraint controllers store collision-related data. We assess enquiries for supported crash-data reset work using the exact module identity, condition and collision history. Suitability must be confirmed before sending a unit or booking work.
The manufacturer's repair requirements can call for a replacement controller or other components. A module reset alone does not complete the vehicle's collision repair: deployed or damaged restraint components, wiring and the required system checks still need attention.
We welcome both workshop vehicles and enquiries about removed SRS modules from owners or garages. Send us the label photograph and repair information first so suitability, handling and delivery arrangements can be agreed. Do not remove a unit solely to obtain a label photograph; send existing scan information if access is difficult.
SRS module reference catalogue
Find a module by part number
Enter a part or alternate label number, or choose a make. Search to load the relevant model choices. A catalogue match is a reference for your enquiry; it does not confirm vehicle compatibility or that the module can be reset.
Does an airbag light affect the MOT?
An SRS malfunction indicator showing a system fault is a major MOT defect. A passenger-airbag status light indicating that it is switched off has a different purpose. The DVSA inspection manual explains the distinction.
Prepare your enquiry
Include your registration, warning photographs, codes and details of any collision, seat change, replacement module or previous coding attempt. For garage referrals, add the tests already completed and the repairs still planned. We confirm suitability and quote before arranging work at Llandow or accepting a removed unit.
