An inspection that finds no faults does not certify that the vehicle is safe to tune. Extra horsepower and torque put additional stress on components, and checks cannot reveal every weakness. We recommend a full mechanical inspection before tuning. Read the tuning risks, software warranty and hardware exclusions before deciding.

Baseline running checks

Obtaining a precise baseline of your engine’s performance—measuring power, torque, ignition timing, compression, fuel injection, and emissions—is a critical step in tuning and maintaining any vehicle.
Without an accurate baseline, meaningful tuning or diagnostics become guesswork. While a simple stage 1 remap may not require in-depth data logging, once you start modifying components such as intercoolers, turbos, injectors, or carburettors, knowing your starting point is essential before making further changes.
Our Engine Checkover service provides the data needed to assess your engine’s condition, identify potential issues, and create a structured approach to improving performance—rather than blindly replacing parts in the hope of fixing a problem.
This is especially important for classic cars or vehicles running carburettors and distributors. A checkover ensures that ignition timing, fuelling, and overall engine health are correct before any tuning session. Many carb and distributor-related issues can be resolved before tuning even begins, ultimately saving you time and money.
Please note: The Engine Checkover service is not a tuning session. If you have modified your engine by changing injectors, carbs, or other performance components, a full tuning session will be required.
