We fit replacement engines and rebuild selected engine types at Llandow. Send the engine code and details of the failure or proposed build so we can check availability.
We can source replacement engines or assemble supported engines in-house. External machine shops carry out work such as boring, honing, crank grinding, balancing and cylinder-head machining. We confirm the parts and machining needed before agreeing the build.
The right route depends on what has failed, the condition of the original engine, the availability of a suitable replacement and your plans for the vehicle. A rebuild can also involve external machining, while a replacement needs the correct specification and compatible supporting components.
If the cause of the problem is still uncertain, start with engine diagnostics or a fault assessment. A warning light or loss of performance alone does not establish that a full rebuild is needed.
Send the registration, engine code, mileage, symptoms and any diagnostic or strip-down reports. For a performance project, include the current hardware, intended use and power target. Tell us whether you are supplying an engine or parts and whether the car is already dismantled.
Access, the extent of damage, parts and machining requirements affect both cost and timing. Some of these can only be established after inspection or dismantling, so discuss the initial assessment and subsequent work as separate stages.

Discuss engine workParts, machining and labour are quoted for the engine concerned. Choose the workshop priority below when discussing scheduling.
Priority work is scheduled ahead of routine jobs where possible. Parts and machining lead times still apply. We can arrange delivery to external machine shops where useful, at an additional charge.
Standard work follows our regular workshop schedule. If parts are delayed, work resumes when they arrive and current jobs allow.
Economy work uses quieter workshop periods. Timescales can range from six months to over a year, depending on workload, parts and external machining. It is available by agreement and is unsuitable for an urgent repair.

We can discuss a build using forged components for supported engine types. Before committing to this work, consider the costs, timescales and whether it is necessary for your goals.
A properly forged build will usually include forged pistons, stronger connecting rods, upgraded bearings, head studs/bolts, gaskets and often additional machining and balancing. Done properly, this is not a cheap exercise: as a guide, the minimum price for a basic 4-cylinder engine build is typically around £4,000, and larger or more complex engines will cost more.
For many customers, a well-set-up standard or lightly uprated engine with a sensible power level and a good custom tune is a better use of budget. For higher power targets, regular track use or serious long-term projects, a forged build may well be the right answer.
When we supply and fit a reconditioned engine, you’ll receive the same warranty that our engine supplier provides.
For most road-going or non-performance vehicles, this is typically a 3 or 6-month warranty, depending on the supplier and engine type.
If we supply and fit a used (second-hand) engine, we provide a limited 2-week start-up warranty for road or non-performance vehicles.
This covers the engine starting, idling, and running as expected upon installation.
If you choose to supply your own engine, the responsibility for any warranty or failure rests entirely with you or your supplier.
We cannot provide any warranty or guarantee on parts not sourced by us.
For road or non-performance engine rebuilds completed in-house, we provide a 3-month warranty on workmanship only.
This means that if a fault is proven to be due to an assembly or workmanship issue, we’ll put it right.

For fast road, track, or motorsport applications, warranty coverage may be reduced or excluded entirely due to the nature of use and higher risk of component stress.
We will always discuss this openly before work begins, so you know exactly where you stand.
If you supply any of the rebuild parts yourself, the warranty only covers workmanship and assembly issues. If we fit something wrong, we'll happily fix it but not the part itself.
