Diagnose the running fault while the injectors are fitted
A misfire, difficult start or uneven engine is not enough to identify a failed injector. We investigate the engine and fuel system together, then discuss whether removal and bench testing would help confirm the next step.
Begin with a free scan and assessment. This service is for suspected faults on the vehicle; injector bench testing covers supported removed injectors and the testing process.
Symptoms that justify injector and fuelling checks
- Uneven idle, persistent misfires or hesitation.
- Difficult starting or running that changes as the engine warms.
- Power loss, unexpected smoke or a fuelling warning.
- A fault remaining after injector replacement or cleaning.
- Fuel-pressure or contamination concerns and previous fuel-system repairs.
Check the fuel system, not just a code label
We use the complaint, fault history and live data to select useful tests. Depending on the vehicle, investigation can consider requested and measured fuel pressure, injector control, fuel condition and relevant electrical or mechanical evidence.
Pico measurements can help investigate control signals; fuel analysis can assess a contamination concern. An apparent injector problem can also involve fuel supply, another engine system or mechanical condition.
Without clear injector evidence, misfire diagnostics or our broader engine diagnostics assessment may be the appropriate route.
When bench testing helps
We test supported petrol injectors on ASNU equipment and supported common-rail diesel injectors on a separate Delphi bench. The injector make and part number determine compatibility and available tests.
- Petrol testing can compare flow, leakage and spray pattern under supported conditions.
- Common-rail diesel testing uses the separate diesel equipment.
- VW PD (Pumpe Düse) unit injectors are not supported for bench testing.
- Removal, refitting, service parts and any required adaptation are separate from bench testing.
Bring earlier work and injector details
Include the registration, fuel type, engine, symptoms, codes and previous repairs. If the injectors are already removed, send their make, part numbers and quantity before supplying them.
After the free assessment, we make a plan for testing and discuss further diagnostic work, removal or repair. Garage referrals with logs and measurements are welcome.
