Emission Control Repairs
Deposits can restrict an EGR valve, cooler or connecting pipework. Cleaning may help when contamination is the problem and the component remains serviceable. It cannot repair an electrical fault, leak or worn mechanism.
Which parts can be assessed?
Our EGR cleaning work covers suitable valves, coolers and pipework. We select the approach for the component, using the workshop's ultrasonic equipment and cleaning processes where appropriate. Electronics, seals and assembly condition affect what can be treated.
Diagnosis before cleaning
Warning lights, poor running and EGR-related codes can have more than one cause. Begin with EGR diagnostics and repair advice if the cause is unconfirmed. We also offer a free initial code scan and printout.
- Check symptoms, codes and previous work.
- Assess valve operation and the affected components.
- Discuss removal access and whether cleaning is appropriate.
- Explain replacement or further testing supported by the findings.
Cleaning or replacement?
Removing contamination will not repair a failed actuator, damaged wiring or a leaking cooler. If a component is unsuitable for cleaning, we discuss repair or replacement. Not every EGR assembly can be returned to factory condition.
Booking and quotation details
Send the registration, engine, mileage and code report. Tell us whether the component is still on the vehicle and whether it has been cleaned or replaced. The part, its condition, removal/refitting access and investigation required affect the quote and workshop time.
Questions about EGR cleaning
Will cleaning cure an EGR code?
It can only help where contamination is responsible and cleaning is suitable. A code alone cannot establish that. The repair should be checked against the original complaint.
Can the intake need attention too?
That depends on inspection. We can discuss intake carbon-cleaning options alongside the findings, without assuming every related component needs cleaning.
