Oxygen-sensor and catalyst-monitoring enquiries

Identify the sensor and its role
In a typical petrol exhaust system, the upstream sensor supports mixture control and the downstream sensor monitors the catalyst. The exact ECU strategy must be checked: the sensors are not interchangeable, and removing a downstream sensor is not an exhaust-flow improvement. Bosch’s lambda-sensor reference explains these roles.
Diagnosis and supported work
A sensor-related code can require checks of wiring, exhaust leaks, fuelling and catalyst condition. For a permitted non-road exhaust conversion, we assess the required sensor arrangement, fittings and calibration. Suppressing a warning does not repair a failed sensor or another engine fault.
Exhaust changes also need assessment against applicable emissions inspection requirements. We confirm the exact work and intended application before quoting.
