Gearbox tuning adjusts the transmission control software on supported DSG, DCT and automatic gearboxes. At Llandow Tuning, we discuss how you use the vehicle and the change you want before recommending a calibration.
The available adjustments depend on the gearbox and its software. They may include shift patterns, clutch engagement and torque limits. A daily driver and a modified performance car can have different priorities, so the aim is to agree what is appropriate for your exact setup.
Tell us if the engine is already remapped or if you are planning ECU remapping. Engine and gearbox work should be considered together; a gearbox tune is not automatically required with every engine remap.

Explain any existing shift problems
If you are experiencing slipping, harsh engagement, warning messages or a recent change in behaviour, mention it when enquiring. These symptoms need investigation before a performance tune is considered; software changes should not be presented as a repair for an unidentified fault.
Include the service history and details of any recent gearbox repairs. This helps us discuss the appropriate next step and avoid arranging a tuning appointment when fault investigation is needed first.
Planning the work and the quote
- Describe the goal. Tell us about everyday driving, performance use and the shift behaviour you would like to change.
- Confirm the specification. Share existing remaps, fitted hardware, service history and any known faults.
- Agree the scope. We discuss available calibration changes, any preliminary investigation and whether engine tuning is part of the booking.
- Arrange an appointment. Confirm the quote, expected workshop time and preparation before travelling to Llandow.
What affects the cost?
The gearbox and software version, existing modifications, access required and the work agreed all affect the quote. Combined engine and gearbox work also needs a different scope from a gearbox-only appointment.
