What is the difference between the services?

Flashing or software programming

Flashing writes software to an electronic control unit. The correct software and procedure depend on the module and vehicle. Tell us if the unit has been tuned, replaced or previously programmed.

Coding

Coding changes the configuration of a module for supported vehicle equipment or functions. This may form part of a retrofit or replacement-module installation. A feature must be supported by the relevant hardware and software; changing a setting alone does not add missing equipment.

Adaptation and basic settings

Adaptation sets up a supported component or its learned values for the vehicle. The required procedure depends on the system and the work carried out. We can discuss whether adaptation is needed alongside the installation or repair.

Preparing a replacement ECU

Some used modules can be prepared for installation in another vehicle, a process sometimes called virginising. It is not available for every unit, and compatibility must be established before buying a replacement.

Retrofits and replacement modules

Contact us about a proposed feature change, an infotainment retrofit such as CarPlay, or programming associated with a replacement gearbox or control unit. Include the original specification and exact replacement part numbers so that support can be checked.
