Fit to map check in South Wales

Find out if the car is ready before the file is written

Fit to map is the engine check-over, booked because you want a remap. It starts at £95. A healthy car goes on to the calibration. A car that is not ready leaves with a list: the boost leak, the clutch, the DPF, the AdBlue fault, or whatever the logs showed.

A running problem needs engine fault diagnosis before calibration. Start with the free code scan and assessment.

It is the same visit as the engine check-over. There are not two inspections and two prices. Book this page when the reason you are coming is a map. The check-over page lists what the basic and full levels include.

A check that finds no faults does not certify that the vehicle is safe to tune. We recommend a full mechanical inspection before tuning, but even that cannot remove every risk. Additional horsepower and torque put extra stress on components. Read the tuning risks, full lifetime software warranty and hardware exclusions before deciding.

The check is done on the rolling road at the workshop, cell one being the Dyno Developments 2WD. Cell two, the MAHA LPS 2000, is there for four-wheel drive.

What stops a map on the day

Boost

A split hose, a tired turbo, or a boost reading that does not match the engine. Mapping over that just hides it until something else gives way.

The clutch

Golfs, BMWs and Transits are the usual ones. If the clutch is already slipping, the torque from a Stage 1 will show it. The check says so before the file is written.

DPF and AdBlue

A filter that never finishes a regen, or an AdBlue countdown, is a fault to sort. It is not something a calibration should be asked to drive through.

A car with a clear fault, a non-start, or a warning you already know about belongs on fault assessment first. Fit to map is for a car you intend to have mapped.

Book it with the calibration in mind

Send the registration and the stage you are aiming for. Stage 1 starts from £250, normally £400, and some ECUs cost more. The prices and what each stage means are on the remapping page.

The workshop is at Unit 11 Sambucus Avenue, Llandow Trading Estate, Llandow, CF71 7PB.
