Motorsport UK has published guidance for competitors and officials on road rally technical rule changes due to take effect on 1 January 2027.
The governing body says the changes cover engines, transmissions, wheels and tyres, lighting and roll-over protection. Its guide separates the requirements for road rally cars from those for historic road rally cars, with the latter moved into a standalone section.
Among the matters explained are updated engine and gearbox provisions, wheel arch profiles and wheel widths. The guide says certain aftermarket gear-change levers and linkages remain permitted on manual-transmission cars, while describing restrictions on automatic transmission modifications.
The document also discusses the installation and padding of roll-over protection and the use of auxiliary and reversing lights. Motorsport UK says the guide is for information and has no regulatory power; competitors should read it alongside the applicable National Competition Rules.
