An off-the-shelf calibration is developed for a defined combination of engine, software, fuel and hardware. A custom session uses measurements from the particular vehicle to decide what to change and how to verify it.

Neither label guarantees the result. A well-developed OTS product can be appropriate for a healthy supported car; a custom tune still depends on the calibrator's skill and the quality of testing. Custom work does not always produce a larger peak figure.

Vehicle-specific work is useful when the hardware differs from the supported package, when torque delivery needs changing or when logs show a limitation. It can also identify a mechanical fault that should be repaired instead of requesting more output.

At Llandow, we inspect the setup, establish the brief, review operating data and refine the calibration where the evidence supports a change. Dyno and road checks help assess the result under load. Before booking, agree the fuel requirements, supporting parts, included testing and after-sales support.
