Silverstone is set to join the FIA Formula Regional European Championship in 2027, giving the series a British round on its expanded provisional calendar. The FIA’s 7 October announcement lists the meeting for 14–16 May.
The ACI-promoted championship will grow from eight events in 2026 to ten next year. Portimão and Barcelona also join the schedule, with the Portuguese venue opening the season in April and Barcelona hosting the finale on 8–10 October.
A proposed Hungaroring round on 30 July–1 August would put Formula Regional on the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix support programme. That event remains subject to contract, and its weekend format is still to be confirmed.
Elsewhere, each meeting is due to have two races, replacing the mixed formats used in 2026. Removing the reverse-grid race caps the season at 20 races despite the additional rounds.
The FIA says the revised spacing between events responds to team and driver feedback. Formula Regional sits between Formula 4 and FIA Formula 3 on the federation’s single-seater development ladder.
