Silverstone-based Hitech has confirmed Joshua Dürksen as the first driver in its 2027 Formula 2 line-up. The signing, announced by the team on 2 October, brings an established F2 race winner into its preparations for the championship's updated car.
The 22-year-old Paraguayan has competed in the category since 2024. Formula 2's own announcement records eight victories and 16 podium finishes across his three campaigns, and confirms his existing role as a Mercedes development driver.
Experience for a technical change
Hitech says the introduction of the 2027 evolution car will present teams with a fresh engineering challenge. Its head of F2 race engineering, Jan Sumann, identified Dürksen's experience, development and ability to perform under pressure as reasons for the signing.
Dürksen also highlighted the updated car in his comments accompanying the announcement. He said he was looking forward to working with the team and continuing to develop while competing for wins.
A record built over three seasons
According to Hitech, Dürksen's rookie season brought his first F2 podium at Imola, a first victory in Baku and a Feature Race win in Abu Dhabi. He added two more wins in his second campaign and four in 2026, as recorded at the time of the signing.
Hitech's announcement confirms one seat in its British team's plans for next year. It does not identify his 2027 team-mate. The confirmed move adds experience to the squad as it prepares to adapt its Formula 2 operation to the incoming car changes.
