The FIA World Motor Sport Council approved further sporting provisions for the 2027 World Rally Championship on 19 October, defining how its top category and titles will operate. Rally1 will combine new-specification WRC27 cars with WRC Kit Cars based on existing Rally2 machinery and fitted with an approved aerodynamic upgrade kit.

The Manufacturers’ Championship will give way to a Constructors’ title open to automotive manufacturers and independent tuners. Constructors must enter every round to be eligible. A separate WRC Teams’ Championship will count seven nominated events, including an overseas round and the season finale. WRC2, WRC3 and the Masters Cup will continue in 2027. The maximum turbo restrictor for both Rally1 specifications rises from 32mm to 33mm.

The FIA has also created Rally6 as a homologated entry category for production-based, two-wheel-drive cars. It specifies a standard 1.6-litre turbocharged or 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine and estimates car costs of €35,000–€47,000. Production-derived brakes and tyres, conventional H-pattern gearboxes and non-adjustable competition dampers are intended to help contain purchase and running costs.
