Lando Norris claimed his first Grand Prix victory of 2026 in Hungary, rewarding McLaren's development work with a win ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli.

The British driver started on pole but ran wide at Turn 2, allowing team-mate Oscar Piastri to take the lead. Norris then spent much of the race behind the other McLaren before the second round of pit stops created an opportunity.

With Piastri called in first, Norris used clear track and a longer stint to produce the pace needed to emerge ahead after his own stop. Piastri later retired with a suspected gearbox problem.

Norris credited the team's substantial upgrade package for a car that felt particularly strong at the Hungaroring. The result put him ten points behind Charles Leclerc in the standings before the summer break, while giving McLaren evidence that its recent improvements could deliver race-winning performance.
