Lewis Hamilton finished second in the Singapore Sprint and then qualified third for the Grand Prix on Saturday 10 October 2026. Max Verstappen won the short race before taking pole for Sunday's main event, with both session classifications now final.
Hamilton's Ferrari finished the 20-lap Sprint 2.591 seconds behind the Red Bull. Charles Leclerc completed the podium, while Oliver Bearman scored sixth place for Haas and Lando Norris recovered to eighth.
Russell's lead ends on the opening lap
Heavy rain delayed the Sprint start by half an hour, and the field began on intermediate tyres. George Russell passed Verstappen into the first corner, but crashed at the exit of the final turn before completing another racing lap.
That left Verstappen ahead of Hamilton, who had climbed from sixth on the grid. A Safety Car interruption followed the early incidents; later, a drying circuit made tyre management increasingly important.
On the final lap, Norris tried to pass Oscar Piastri at Turn 5 and the McLaren drivers collided. Norris continued, while Piastri did not finish the lap but was classified fourteenth. The stewards took no further action, concluding that both drivers had contributed and neither was predominantly responsible.
Hamilton follows up in qualifying
Later on Saturday, Verstappen's 1m 31.373s qualifying lap beat Leclerc by 0.054 seconds. Hamilton was third on 1m 31.496s after heading the first two qualifying segments.
Norris qualified fifth, Russell sixth and Piastri seventh. Qualifying positions differ from the starting grid: the FIA's provisional Sunday grid places Russell twenty-first after his 40-place penalty for additional power-unit elements.
The same provisional grid has Hamilton third and Norris fifth. These are the completed Saturday sessions and the published grid ahead of Sunday 11 October; this report does not contain the Grand Prix result.
