British driver Bradley Smith secured his first outright Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship victory at Jarama on Saturday 3 October. The signed final classification confirms that he won Race 2 by just 0.276 seconds over José Eduardo Rodrigues, having started from pole on the reversed grid.
Smith completed the 12-lap race in 24 minutes 3.753 seconds aboard his MAN truck for Bernau-Smith Racing. Rodrigues finished second and Antonio Albacete completed the podium, 0.798 seconds behind the winner. The official result settles the finishing order for Saturday's second race, rather than the championship's final standings.
Pressure all the way to the flag
The championship's race report described sustained pressure from Rodrigues. Smith explained afterwards that pushing hard early in the race had taken a toll on his truck's performance towards the finish, leaving him to defend the lead. He held on for a breakthrough which followed his first overall podium at Le Mans on Sunday 27 September.
That earlier result was second place overall, according to the FIA's Jarama day-one report. Within six days, Smith had turned that first visit to the outright podium into a victory against the full European field.
Saturday's success also brought a Chrome category win. The separate final Chrome classification placed Lukas Hahn second in class and Mark Taylor third, with John Newell fourth. Smith had already finished second in Chrome in Race 1, which Norbert Kiss won outright earlier on 3 October.
A milestone after the switch to MAN
The series' official driver profile records Smith's move from an IVECO in 2025 to Albacete's previous MAN for the 2026 season. Last year he finished runner-up in Chrome, three points behind Taylor, during his first full European campaign after selected appearances in 2024.
The Jarama round spans 3–4 October. Smith's first overall win is confirmed by the final Race 2 documents; it does not resolve the remaining races or the season's Chrome title contest.
