Is the immobiliser causing the problem?

A vehicle that will not start can have several possible causes. We consider the warning messages, fault codes and communication between the relevant modules before recommending immobiliser work. If there is no clear indication of an immobiliser issue, start with a vehicle fault assessment.

Tell us whether the engine turns over, whether it starts and then stops, and whether the behaviour changes with another key. These observations help us plan the investigation without assuming that the key or ECU needs replacing.
