The FIA officially opened its Remote Operations Centre at Biggin Hill on 20 October, establishing a UK-based hub to support race control and stewards at Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 events. The centre had already been operating since the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix.

During Grand Prix weekends, analysts review more than 140 audio and video feeds, car-position telemetry and team-radio communications. The FIA says the centre helps officials identify potential issues such as jump starts, track-limit infringements and pit-lane offences. AI-assisted shape recognition, computer vision and automated radio-message tagging are used to flag incidents for review; decisions remain with race officials.

Up to 16 staff work from the facility during race weekends. The FIA also plans to use the centre for post-event reviews and training through its High Performance Programme for officials.
